SIMPLE VEHICLE SIGNALS WE NEGLECT [1]

HELLO GUYS!   iT’S MONDAY! yIPEE,

How many of you have checked your brakes this morning before leaving for work?

When last did you even check your brake pads?

I bet its only when you start hearing that annoying squeaky sound that is when it occurs to you to check. Or you would rather say “The sound will stop soon”. You just smiled -because you are guilty of this, right?

Before we look into this major issue today, lets talk about “NEGLIGENCE” and also a person BEING  “NEGLIGENT”, What does it mean?

The word NEGLIGENT is used in describing a person who behaves in a thoughtless or careless manner, which has caused harm or injury to himself/herself or other people. When we say a person is being Negligent, we are trying to say he/she is been caught in that manner or course of that action.

Negligence is a legal theory often used in car accident cases. A driver must be careful to avoid injuring other motorists, passengers, or pedestrians — basically, anyone that he or she encounters on the road.

Now letsl take a look at some of the signs our vehicles show that we neglect:

CAR BRAKES

  • What are symptoms of bad brakes?
  • How do I know when to change them?
  • What happens when you have a low break fluid?
  • Do I need a front or rear brakes?

To be honest, these questions has come into most of our minds and we don’t know the actual way to solve these , but here will be giving you solutions to your BRAKE ISSUES

Symptoms of Bad Brakes;

  • When one of the red or yellow brake indicators on your dashboard lights up it may mean you’re just due for an inspection. It could also be your vehicle’s smart electronics alerting you to a problem.
  • When you hear a metallic squeal when you are in motion, this also means that your pads are worn out and need to be replaced before you get rotor damage, which can be an expensive fix. We should all know that a car’s break pad is  made of steel so they make this sound when they start contacting the rotor.
  • When a grinding sound is made or felt when a brake is applied, it all balls down to so many numbers of things which could be wrong. And among thos e things are;
  • Driving for too long without doing brake servicing, #NOT GOOD!#
  • Lack of lubrication in vehicles with rare drum brakes. Now here, we are talking about “RUST”
  • Or this could be some rock or gravel caught in the caliper unit.[ Uhhm!, I know most people do not understand what mean by this, well it means the part of a disc brake, that holds the brake pads
  • If you’re experiencing a soft brake pedal, have a service technician look for fluid leaking from the master cylinder or elsewhere in the brake system.
  • The master cylinder is the unit that creates the power for your brakes. It has a reservoir like the one for your wiper fluid that contains brake fluid.
  • When you notice your car is pulling to one side when the brake is applied, it is actually caused by a brake hose gone bad or a caliper problem. One brake caliper may be applying more or all the pressure during braking, resulting in unbalanced stopping. (So  beware of this sign!)

  • Burning smell while driving;

So many young/old men and women often neglect this in particular, both in the private vehicles and public transports. This is a very important factor to look at while driving. This smell is a sharp, chemical odour after repeated hard braking on steep roads is a sign of overheated brakes or clutch.

Now the first-aid solution to this problem is to pull over immediately in a safe place, check your parking brake to make sure it’s fully released and allow the brakes to cool. If you don’t, you risk heating up the brake fluid to boiling, which can cause brake failure. If there’s any smoke coming from a wheel, it may be a stuck brake caliper and possibly unsafe to continue driving on without repairs.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE A LOW BRAKE FLUID?

The second most common cause of low break fluid is a LEAK, If you don’t find out where it is leaking from and solve the problem, you could end up running the brake system DRY.

The end result is this: When you step on the brakes, the pedal will go all the way to the floor but it will not stop the car.  Brake fluid leaks are not something to “worry about later”. The safety of you and whoever else rides in your car is at stake

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO CHANGE MY BAD BRAKES ?

This question many of us would have at the back of our minds on when to change the brakes when its gone bad. Some of us sometimes feel reluctant and lazy to do so at times until its gotten to a very urgent need to do so.

Neglecting your braking system can lead to increased repair costs, or worse, no brakes at all. Fortunately, paying attention to some of the signs of brake wear can keep you on top of stopping maintenance, saving you some money and keeping your car from bouncing off  the guy in front of you. Meanwhile While neglecting your brakes until your car is grinding to a halt instead of gliding is always an option, it can cost you in unnecessary rotor replacement and possible towing bills. That’s not to mention the likelihood of losing most of your stopping ability right when you need it most. Keeping up with brake maintenance, paying attention to the signs of brake wear and choosing the right equipment for your vehicle will let you slow down like you should.

DO I NEED A FRONT OR A REAR BRAKE ?

Brake pads wear every time the brakes are applied. So, if the vehicle is often driven in stop-and-go traffic, the faster the pads wear out.  The size and weight of the vehicle also have an impact on how fast the brake pads wear out. In vehicles with a conventional proportioning valve, the front brakes typically wear two to three times faster than the pads or shoes in the rear. Consequently, a vehicle may go through one or two sets of front pads before all four brakes need to be relined.

“Each vehicle has a minimum thickness required for their rotors. You have to know the specs, and run a  caliper/micrometer on them. Or you can take them to the auto parts store to have them measured”

Never ignore these symptoms of bad brake problems when you start feeling/seeing them, when there are changes and you feel is not right , do not just sit there comfortably in your car and expect everything will be alright. This actually calls for some sort of ATTENTION! Or either ways you would be inflicting  danger or injury upon yourself or another with your own hands.
